THE FEED

Nov 2: The Garden Shed, Göteborg. First show with the new line-up. Be kind to the bass player.

This month I got my first payout. It isn't much, and I know exactly what it paid for: a month of rehearsal-room rent and three new drum heads. But it came from people who chose to listen, and that is a different kind of money. Thank you for paying the people who make the music.

New in the shop: a heavy canvas tote, screenprinted by a friend with a press in her basement. It holds six records and a sandwich, and it has already survived a very rainy week in Göteborg. Limited to eighty. Once they're gone, I'll probably forget the design and start over.

One-off show at Café de la Gare on Nov 25. No support, one long set, no encore because there are no other songs.

Entr'acte is a different version from the album one. Faster, a little rougher, and about a minute shorter.

The venue says capacity is two hundred. A hundred and twelve tickets sold and a lot of hope.

Rehearsal room is booked until midnight. The new songs are loud, which is a relief.

People ask how I write songs. The honest answer is badly, then again, then again.

Thank you to the engineers, the players, the friends who drove forty miles to hold a microphone stand.
