THE FEED

Went to see a friend's band last night. They were amazing. I'm a bit jealous.

A thank-you note, in public, because it won't fit in a text. To everyone who bought Plain Speech, told a friend, came to Sardine Club or sent a message on a bad day: you made this year possible. I've kept a list of your names in the lid of my guitar case. It's getting hard to close.

Borrowed a real upright piano for a day. The sustain pedal squeaks, and it's on the record now.

Plain Speech is out today, and I want to say how it got made. Two years ago I had four songs, a borrowed tape machine and a kitchen with good acoustics. Then a friend with a van, a neighbor with a piano and a lot of Tuesday nights did the rest. If it sounds a little like a house party that turned into a record, that's about right.
