Hello Richmond! I'll be on stage at Maple Street Mission Hall on Dec 26. Come early and see the opener, who is better than me.

Posters sold out in four hours. I've ordered more paper and I'm nervous.

Trying a new way of working. Each morning I record one song from scratch, start to finish, before checking my phone. Most of them are bad, a few are fine, and one of them, Maribel's Dress, I can't stop playing. It turns out the trick is to finish before you have time to doubt it.

Moving week just ended, which means my guitar is somewhere in a box labeled "kitchen." So far I have found the kettle, a lamp, nine mugs and the instruction manual for a toaster I don't own. The new neighborhood has a good bakery and a terrible echo in the stairwell, and I've already written two songs there.

Favorite record this month: a six-track tape by someone I'd never heard of. Found it by accident, played it all week.
