THE FEED

Distant Shores is out today, and I want to say how it got made. Two years ago I had four songs, a borrowed tape machine and a kitchen with good acoustics. Then a friend with a van, a neighbor with a piano and a lot of Tuesday nights did the rest. If it sounds a little like a house party that turned into a record, that's about right.

People ask how I write songs. The honest answer is badly, then again, then again.

A friend gave me a thrift-store accordion. It sounds like a dying goose, so naturally I love it.

Thank you to the person who shared Dinner with the Ghost Upstairs with their book club. It's the weirdest compliment I've ever had.
